The NATP program must follow the NATP curriculum and approved schedule, . Training to be provided by NATP approved instructor at approved classroom and clinical locations. The training program must be responsible for all training in its entirety and cannot allow facility staff to train, teach, monitor, shadow, or proctor students. The Department approved RN Instructor must provide direct and immediate supervision of the students at the facility during the clinical training. Have successfully completed a training program approved by the department in California, which includes an examination to test the applicant's knowledge and skills related to basic patient care services.
Information regarding the 40 hour Home Health Aide Training Program (HHP):
In the State of California, there are two types of home health care agencies. The first one is a non-medical model in which there are no orders from a doctor or a licensed nurse supervising the care. This caregiver does not need a certificate or credentials to work for an agency. Twenty hours of HHA curriculum are in the classroom and twenty hours are clinical, which are performed and monitored by the HHA RN Program Director in a clinical setting . As a Certified Nurse Assistant, you will work in long-term care facilities, medical offices, hospitals, and outpatient facilities.
Many home health aides also work in assisted living facilities which provide independent living in a homelike group environment with professional care available, as needed. The home environment may also be more comfortable for clients and could help speed up the healing process. The Training Program must supply a list of student names to the facilities that have met the above criteria. It is the responsibility of the school to provide documentation that the students in the clinical setting do not pose a health risk to patients/residents. Include the name and address of the parties, and be signed by the facility administrator and training program Owner or Administrator.

Students that enroll after the CNA course will repeat all health requirements and fingerprinting to qualify for enrollment. Both parties must agree to follow all local, state and federal laws and regulations. It is a two-unit course with 40 hours of classroom theory, and 40 hours of hands-on clinical experience. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate from the State of California enabling work in home health. Earning wage for a Home Health Aide in the Sacramento area is between $15-20 per hour. The course is offered during the final 3 weeks of the fall and spring semesters. The training focus shall be on delivery of care and services in the home environment, and not in an institutionalized setting. The clinical site facility must comply with state and federal regulations and must not have a Department imposed two year Training Program ban secondary to enforcement actions. Students must have either a current CNA license or have completed Nurse 100 to qualify for this course. The Home Health Aide course is a higher level of home health caregiving education and provides more employment possibilities.

You can tailor your time with any of these schedules in order to obtain the required CNA training in 29 days, or as long as 10 weeks. ARC offers an accredited Home Health Aide course for students that have completed a Certified Nurse Assistant course, or students that are already a CNA.
